I was thinking the NFL should do something about there playoffs. I was thinking of something along the lines of the top 2 teams per division play each other in the 1st round, and then the winners of those games goes on to the 2nd round, instead of giving 2 teams a week off, if they are truly the top teams then they should be able to make it through a 1st round playoff, I mean its not like they play 7 games like in hockey, where even the top ranked team has to play in the 1st round of the NHL playoffs. I don’t like this wild card playoff it doesn’t give the good teams a fighting chance.

Ex. of my playoff system:

Week 1[AFC] {Division Champs get home field advantage this round}:
Top 2 teams from the AFC East
Top 2 teams from the AFC West
Top 2 teams from the AFC North
Top 2 teams from the AFC South

Week 2 {Home field advantage would be determined by season standings}:
Winner of East v Winner of West
Winner of North v Winner of South

AFC Championship Game {Home field advantage would be determined by season standings}:
Winner of East v West
Winner of North v South

-----------------------------------------------------

Week 1[NFC] {Division Champs get home field advantage this round}:
Top 2 teams from the NFC East
Top 2 teams from the NFC West
Top 2 teams from the NFC North
Top 2 teams from the NFC South

Week 2 {Home field advantage would be determined by season standings}:
Winner of East v Winner of West
Winner of North v Winner of South

NFC Championship Game {Home field advantage would be determined by season standings}:
Winner of East v West
Winner of North v South
